TEACHING PROGRAM- TECH PREP
Students in the teaching program will complete a sequence of psychology and education classes that will earn them a maximum of 12 credits at RVCC which are transferable to Kean University and other 4 year colleges. Students will complete three college level courses during the junior year: Introduction to Psychology, Educational Psychology and Foundations of Education. Senior year they will enroll in the Teacher Academy course and participate in student teaching assignments in local elementary, middle and high schools throughout the county. All courses for the teaching program are held on Polytech’s campus.
ABOUT THE TECH PREP PROGRAM Hunterdon County Polytech offers students college-level training and education in the fast-growing fields of nursing and teaching through a tech-prep program funded by a state grant. This program is designed to help students acquire the necessary career requirements in these professions while still in high school. Hunterdon County Polytech works with The University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, Raritan Valley Community College and Kean University to offer this program which allows students to complete college work in the nursing and teaching majors while fulfilling their high school requirements. Highlights of the tech-prep nursing and teaching program include:
Participation in professional organizations such as: the Future Educators of America (FEA), the National Student Nurse’s Association (NSNA) and the American Nurse’s Association (ANA).
