Hunterdon County Polytech announces the recognition of a partner: The New Jersey Council of County Vocational-Technical Schools honors business leaders from throughout the state who contribute to the success of career and technical education in their communities. Chief Fred Brown, of the Raritan Township Police Department was honored at the sixth annual School/Business Partnership Luncheon on Wednesday, October 25, 2006 at the Police Chief Fred Brown of the Raritan Township Police Department was instrumental in helping Polytech establish their Law and Public Safety program and has continually supported the program since its’ inception in 2003. Chief Brown continues to serve as a member of Polytech’s Law and Public Safety Advisory Board. The Chief has made numerous resources of the Raritan Township Police Department available to the students. Officers frequently make presentations to the class on the elements of patrol, procedures used in traffic stops, SWAT Team tactics, accident investigations and other topics. During the month of May all of the Law Enforcement students participate in a job shadowing program. Job shadowing allows each student to observe in the field what they have learned in the classroom. Chief Brown and the Raritan Township Police Department have participated in job shadowing every year. Students have the opportunity to ride along in Raritan Township Police vehicles because of the efforts of Chief Brown. Chief Brown continually promotes the program with the Police Chiefs Association. He continues to be in the forefront of a partnership between Hunterdon County Polytech and the Law Enforcement Community in Hunterdon County.
