FOOD AND BEVERAGE MANAGEMENT AAS DEGREE and CERTIFICATE PROGRAM

IOAS (HCP) is partnering with Raritan Valley Community College (RVCC) to offer a new Associate of Applied Science (AAS) Degree in Food and Beverage Management. The program is designed for students interested in college-level instruction in the culinary field. The program features a broad range of hands-on and classroom instruction that will prepare students for management-level positions in the culinary field. The program will begin in January 2007.

All of the general education courses will be offered at RVCC, while the culinary courses will be offered at IOAS’s new 7,000 square-foot culinary arts facility, which features a 90 seat restaurant, a baking and pastry area, a demonstration classroom and a large commercial kitchen.

Instructional topics include a wide variety of specialty courses in areas such as food preparation and catering, purchasing, sanitation and cost control. Students also take part in a cooperative field experience, which offers them supervised off-campus work in the food and beverage field of their choice.

Students can also choose to take the Food and Beverage Management certificate program option through IOAS. The program requires the successful completion of all eight courses as identified by * in the following course requirements.
