Tourette Syndrome Association of New Jersey
Due Date: March 28, 2008
Amount: TBD

Criteria: This is an award for a senior diagnosed with Tourette Syndrome. Student must be planning on attending a college or trade school full-time. An essay and transcript are required.

The New Jersey Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Association
Due Date: April 18, 2008
Amount: $1,000

Criteria: The applicant must be a senior diagnosed with CFS and be ccepted into a 2 or 4 year college, university or technical school. Requirements include an essay.

Hunterdon County Nurses Association – Linda Farrell Memorial Scholarship
Due Date: March 31, 2008
Amount: $500

Criteria: Qualified applicants must a graduate of a Hunterdon County High School and plan to enter a professional nursing program in the Fall. A common Polytech application and essay are required.

Marine Trades Association of New Jersey
Due Date: May 1, 2008
Amount: $1,500 to any marine trades program, full scholarship at Pennco Tech for the Marine Technician Program or full scholarship for the Marine Service Technology Program at the Automotive Training Center.

Criteria: Student must be interested and plan to pursue a degree in the marine trades and attend a school that offers the program.

Foster and Adoptive Family Services Scholarship
Due Date: March 28, 2008
Amount: $500-$1,000

Criteria: This scholarship is available to a senior who is or has been under the care of the Division of Youth and Family Services (DYFS).

Flemington Rotary Scholarship
Due Date: April 1, 2008
Amount: $1,500

Criteria: Applicant must complete Polytech’s Need Based Scholarship application. Student must submit an essay on the importance of service and character.

Hunterdon Peace Coalition
Due Date: May 1, 2008
Amount: $50-$250
Criteria: Poetry contest on the topic: “What Peace Means to Me”. Poem will be judged on artistic merit, power of the message and its strength as a catalyst for promoting peace.

New Jersey Grand Lodge Knights of Pythias :
Due Date: April 1, 2008
Amount: $250-$1,000

Criteria: This is a public speaking contest. The topic of 2008 is, “Resolved: The United States Should Ratify the Kyoto Protocol” (Global Warming). Students will be judged on the following criteria: voice, articulation ,diction, structure of point of view, clarity, delivery, persuasion, time and the ability to deliver without note cards.

The 2008 Norman & Gertrude Wolf Memorial Community Service Award
Due Date: May 5, 2008
Amount: TBD

Criteria: The applicant must submit a personal statement including the service activities participated in. Supporting documentation of these activities via news clips, press releases, etc. must be provided. This is not an academic award and does not require any GPA, transcripts, etc.

Knights of Pythias Poster Contest
Due Date: April 1, 2008
Amount: $100-$1,000

Criteria: The theme of the contest is, “Be A Friend When It Counts”. Winners are selected on the following criteria: message, originality, effective display of message in specified dimensions, neatness of the poster, adherence to stated rules and regulations.

Mildred Preen Mortimer Civic Achievement Award

Criteria: Applicant must be a female, senior who has a strong record of academic, religious, humanitarian and civic achievements. Activities since 8 th grade will be considered. Financial need and extracurricular activities are not to be considered. Activities that demonstrate leadership, community growth potential, dedication to common good and spirit of community team work will be considered.

SkillsUSA Alumni & Friends Merit Scholarship :
Due Date: May 1, 2008
Amount: $500

Criteria: Available to SkillsUSA members who will be attending a college/postsecondary program in 2008-09. This merit based scholarship will recognize students for leadership skills, a commitment to community service, helping to improve the image of career and technical education and improving the image of his/her chosen occupation. Candidates may nominate themselves. All nominations must include two letters of recommendation.

Hunterdon County Pomona Grange No. 2
