Scholarship Opportunities as of Feb. 26, 2008 APPLICATION INFORMATION Download the following application and submit to Jennifer Calvelli, Guidance Scholarship Opportunities as of April 20, 2008 Clinton Sunrise Rotary Scholarship: The Paul Sauerland Youth Leadership Award: Tourette Syndrome Association of New Jersey Criteria: This is an award for a senior diagnosed with Tourette Syndrome. Student must be planning on attending a college or trade school full-time. An essay and transcript are required. The New Jersey Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Association Criteria: The applicant must be a senior diagnosed with CFS and be ccepted into a 2 or 4 year college, university or technical school. Requirements include an essay. Hunterdon County Nurses Association – Linda Farrell Memorial Scholarship Criteria: Qualified applicants must a graduate of a Hunterdon County High School and plan to enter a professional nursing program in the Fall. A common Polytech application and essay are required. Marine Trades Association of New Jersey Foster and Adoptive Family Services Scholarship Criteria: This scholarship is available to a senior who is or has been under the care of the Division of Youth and Family Services (DYFS). Flemington Rotary Scholarship Criteria: Applicant must complete Polytech’s Need Based Scholarship application. Student must submit an essay on the importance of service and character. As of February 23, 2008 New Jersey Grand Lodge Knights of Pythias : Criteria: This is a public speaking contest. The topic of 2008 is, “Resolved: The United States Should Ratify the Kyoto Protocol” (Global Warming). Students will be judged on the following criteria: voice, articulation ,diction, structure of point of view, clarity, delivery, persuasion, time and the ability to deliver without note cards. The 2008 Norman & Gertrude Wolf Memorial Community Service Award Knights of Pythias Poster Contest Criteria: The theme of the contest is, “Be A Friend When It Counts”. Winners are selected on the following criteria: message, originality, effective display of message in specified dimensions, neatness of the poster, adherence to stated rules and regulations. Ella Haver Science Scholarship Criteria: Qualified applicants must plan to pursue a science related career. Students must possess intelligence, character and financial need. Students must score above the 50 th percentile of the College Boards Scholastic Aptitude Test. Jennie M. Haver Memorial Scholarhip Criteria: Qualified applicants must plan to pursue a science related career. Students must possess intelligence, character and financial need. Students must score above the 50 th percentile of the College Boards Scholastic Aptitude Test. Mildred Preen Mortimer Civic Achievement Award Criteria: Applicant must be a female, senior who has a strong record of academic, religious, humanitarian and civic achievements. Activities since 8 th grade will be considered. Financial need and extracurricular activities are not to be considered. Activities that demonstrate leadership, community growth potential, dedication to common good and spirit of community team work will be considered. The Family Nursing Service Scholarship Criteria: Applicant must intend to pursue a career in health care. Students must possess intelligence, character and financial need. Students must score above the 50 th percentile of the College Boards Scholastic Aptitude Test. The Margaret A. Schumacher Music Scholarship Criteria: Applicant must intend to pursue a career in music. Students must possess intelligence, character and financial need. Students must score above the 50 th percentile of the College Boards Scholastic Aptitude Test. The Helen Hoff Educational Scholarship Criteria: Applicant must intend to pursue a career in education. Students must possess intelligence, character and financial need. Students must score above the 50 th percentile of the College Boards Scholastic Aptitude Test. Host Masonic Lodge Scholarship Criteria: Student must submit an application and transcript. Additional information: contact Jennifer Calvelli, Guidance – 284-1444 Ext 20 Scholarship Opportunities as of Dec. 4, 2007 SkillsUSA Alumni & Friends Merit Scholarship : Criteria: Available to SkillsUSA members who will be attending a college/postsecondary program in 2008-09. This merit based scholarship will recognize students for leadership skills, a commitment to community service, helping to improve the image of career and technical education and improving the image of his/her chosen occupation. Hunterdon County Pomona Grange No. 2 Criteria: The applicant must submit a transcript, letter of recommendation and an essay (300 words) describing his/her career goals. A preference will be given to students who plan to pursue studies in agriculture but is not a requirement of the scholarship. American Legion Auxiliary National President’s Scholarship Criteria: Must be related to a veteran who served in the Armed Forces. Applicants must submit proof of completing a minimum of 50 hours community service and will be awarded based on character/leadership, essay/application, financial need and scholastic attainment. 2008 Nursing Scholarship Criteria: Qualified applications must plan to pursue studies in nursing and must be a child, grandchild or great-grandchild of a Veteran and will be awarded based on character/leadership, essay/application, financial need and scholastic attainment.
