Early Childhood Education - CDA

Kinder Magic:

Located at the Bartles Corner Campus, Early Childhood students will work hands on with preschool children in our on-site laboratory school.  We welcome children ages 3-5 in the community who are fully potty trained.  The hours of operation are 8-10:30 am. Tuition is $100.00/ month.  Registration and other forms are below.  Please contact Natalie Guarino for further information.

 

Early Childhood I: 
20 credits

Students have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience with young children in our lab school, KinderMagic. Students are involved in planning, preparing, presenting and evaluating lessons. Students learn about all developmental areas of child development: social, emotional, cognitive and physical . This course provides a solid foundation for a future career in education. This course is open to any Hunterdon County junior /senior.

 

Early Childhood Education 2/ CDA

20 credits

 

This course teaches practical techniques to guide children through a variety of daily experiences in safe educational ways. Planning developmentally appropriate curriculum will also be covered. Students are members of FCCLA student organization and participate in statewide events and competitions.   This course is open to any student attending a Hunterdon County high school and has an interest in working with young children and has completed the ECE I course or who has successfully completed child care courses at their home schools and have a teacher recommendation.

 

Students will complete their CDA Professional Resource File during this course and complete 120+ seminar hours. Students will be encouraged  to obtain a job or volunteer experience to achieve the 480 hour requirement of time working with children.

 

During the course, you will complete a minimum of 120 hours of formal instruction .   You must also need to document at least 480 hours of experience working with young children. This means you need a job or volunteer experience afterschool.   Upon completion of this course, you may apply for the CDA credential to the Council of Professional Recognition.
