Pre-Veterinary Science - large and small animals

Pre-Veterinary Science: Equine/Large Animals

20 credits

Thinking about pursuing a career with animals? Enjoy learning about a career in veterinary medicine with this hands-on introduction to working with horses and other large animals. Topics include: Introduction to veterinary medicine, communication skills, office procedures, animal identification, clinic safety and procedures, animal care, and breeding, anatomy and physiology, clinical exams, posology, and terminology.

Experience with various animal species will prove to be invaluable in a career as a member of a veterinary team. Many students continue their education by entering college; others will decide to enter the work force upon graduation.

Students will have the opportunity to participate in HOSA.

Articulation Agreements: Delaware Valley College (3 credits); Harcum College (3 credits); Centenary College (4 credits)

Pre-Veterinary Science: Small Animals

Get a leg up on a career in veterinary medicine with this hands-on introduction to working with companion, laboratory, and exotic animals. Topics include: Safety, terminology, anatomy and physiology, clinical exams, hospital procedures, parasitology, office management, posology, laboratory techniques, animal nutrition, principles of disease, animals in society, career exploration and animal management.
