This program is designed for high school seniors interested in pursuing careers in teaching. Student will receive intensive classroom instruction coupled with internships in area schools. Students will observe and assist experienced teachers in a variety of instructional activities. Students also participate in a variety of field trips to NJ teaching colleges.
Admission Requirements: High school senior Participating in a college prep program 2.5 cumulative GPA Strong desire to be a teacher Have own transportation Complete the application and interview for admission
Students are members of the FEA ( Future Educators of America) and FCCLA (Future Career and Community Leaders of America) student organizations. Students have the opportunity to participate in statewide conferences and competitions.
Upon successful completion of this course, you may receive 3 credits from Raritan Valley Community College. These credits can be transferred to the college of your choice. Students will also be participating in a Computer Literacy class to receive 3 college credits. Total college credits possible are 6.
Guidance Criteria:
Students interested in enrolling in the teaching and nursing program must meet the following requirements:
Counselor recommendation
A minimum GPA of 2.50
Must have a good attendance record
Must have a good discipline record
Admission approval by RVCC
One-time application/enrollment fee of $30.00 to RVCC Tuition
Discounted tuition rates
Must provide own transportation to internship sites
